2002年，廣州市推進城市公共交通車輛清潔能源應(yīng)用工作經(jīng)過3年多的不懈努力，取得明顯成效。至2006年底，全市LPG公交車達6400臺，占公交車總數(shù)的80% ； 16000臺出租車完成LPG改造工作。目前全市各類在用公交、出租車型基本都有配套的LPG發(fā)動機和設(shè)備，幾個主要車型均實現(xiàn)LPG整車制造出廠。在推進這一民心工程過程中，廣州市成功解決了LPG清潔能源運用于大功率發(fā)動機的技術(shù)難題，LPG單燃料城市客車不僅在數(shù)量上是世界第一，而且技術(shù)水平和使用管理水平也達世界領(lǐng)先水平。

　　2007年，廣州市環(huán)保權(quán)威機構(gòu)抽樣80臺LPG公交車進行尾氣排放檢測，結(jié)果顯示：廣州市LPG公交車CO（一氧化碳）的排放接近“0”；HC（碳氫化合物）在高怠速時僅有北京標準的三分之一；低怠速時也僅有北京標準的40%。根據(jù)廣州市公交出租車排放量占全市機動車排放總量的比重48%～50%的情況計算，廣州市公交出租車全面使用LPG后，每年機動車尾氣排放污染物一氧化碳（CO）、碳氫化合（HC）、氮氧化物（NOX）和顆粒物（PM）總量將分別減少22000噸、2430噸、1779噸和417噸。

■Clean Energy for Public Transport and Taxi Tehicles

　　Remarkable achievements have been made through three years' unremitting efforts, starting from 2002, to promote the application of clean energy for public transport in the city. By the end of 2006, over 6,400 public transport vehicles, 80% of the total, had been LPG powered, and 16,000 taxis had converted to LPG.

　　Currently, most public transport vehicles and taxis have been equipped with LPG motors and some major types of vehicles are even ready-made LPG-powered vehicles right off the assembly line. Besides, the city has successfully tackled the technical problem of applying LPG to high power engines, which makes it the world's No. 1 in terms of the number of LPG-fuelled public transport vehicles as well as technical and managerial levels.

　　In year 2007, the city's environment authority carried out an exhaust emission test on 80 LPG-powered buses and the result showed that the CO emission was close to zero. And the HC emission was only one-third of the Beijing Standards at high idle speed and only 40 percent of the Beijing Standards at low idle speed. As the total emission of public buses and taxis accounts for 48-50 percent of a city's total vehicles, the emission of CO, HC, Nox and PM
will be reduced by 22,000, 2,430, 1,779 and 417 tons respectively after the application of LPG fuel.
