??? 萬畝果林位于海珠區(qū)東南部，東起珠江后航道，西至廣州大道南，北起黃埔涌，南至官洲島，是典型的珠江三角洲沖積河網(wǎng)地帶。土地肥沃、雨量充沛，幾百年來經(jīng)過數(shù)代果農(nóng)的悉心栽培，成為嶺南佳果的傳統(tǒng)產(chǎn)區(qū)，有石硤龍眼、紅果楊桃、尚書懷荔枝、雞心黃皮等十多種品種，部分遠(yuǎn)銷港澳和國內(nèi)外。

　　近年來，廣州農(nóng)村地區(qū)城市化進(jìn)程加快，萬畝果林果樹面積削減，環(huán)境污染、病蟲害等問題突出。為保護(hù)好萬畝果林，1999年廣州市政府將其規(guī)劃為果樹保護(hù)區(qū)，分為三級(jí)進(jìn)行保護(hù)：一級(jí)保護(hù)區(qū)為農(nóng)業(yè)生產(chǎn)及農(nóng)業(yè)觀光示范區(qū)，分布在小洲、土華、侖頭3個(gè)村，面積約266.7公頃；二級(jí)保護(hù)區(qū)為果樹生產(chǎn)恢復(fù)區(qū)，分布在石基、北山、土華3個(gè)村，面積約466.7公頃；三級(jí)保護(hù)區(qū)為果樹生態(tài)保護(hù)區(qū)，分布在赤沙、龍?zhí)丁⒓t衛(wèi)、東風(fēng)，瑞寶5個(gè)村，面積約466.7公頃。

　　萬畝果林現(xiàn)有果林面積1120公頃，主要水果品種有：荔枝、龍眼、楊桃、番石榴等，2007年水果產(chǎn)量2.26萬噸。

　　萬畝果林果樹保護(hù)區(qū)已成為廣州市城市中心組團(tuán)的重要綠化隔離帶和城市濕地，是中心城區(qū)的“綠心”，被喻為廣州的“南肺”和“腎”。保護(hù)區(qū)內(nèi)，現(xiàn)已建成具嶺南特色的瀛洲生態(tài)公園、龍?zhí)豆麡涔珗@。

■The Massive Orchard

　　The Massive Orchard, a typical Pearl River Delta alluvion with complicated water network, is located in the southeast of Haizhu District, stretching out all the way from the Pearl River watercourse in the east to the Guangzhou Avenue South in the west, from the Huangpu Stream in the north to the Guangzhou Island in the south. Owing to the fertile land and sufficient rainfall, and thanks to the devoted efforts by generations of local fruit growers in the last hundreds of years, this area has become a large traditional plantation of over ten different kinds of fine Lingnan fruits including Shixia longan, red star fruit, Shangshuhuai lichee, chicken-heart wampee, etc.. Some of the fruits are sold to Hongkong and Macau, and also to other domestic and international markets.

　　The accelerating urbanization of the rural areas in Guangzhou in the recent years has led to the dwindling of the orchard. More serious problems have emerged, such as environmental pollution, plant diseases and insect pests. To protect the massive orchard, the municipal government has designated the orchard as a fruit tree protection area. The work is more cautiously done by dividing the area into three classes of protective areas: the first class protective area is for agricultural production and agricultural sightseeing covering some parts of the three villages of Xiaozhou, Luntou and Tuhua with a total area of 266.7 hectares; the second class is for the resumption of fruit plantation covering parts of the three villages of Shiji, Beishan and Tuhua totaling 466.7 hectares of land; the third class is for the ecological protection of the fruit trees covering parts of the five villages of Shisha, Longtan, Hongwei, Dongfeng and Ruibao with a total area of 466.7 hectares.

　　The Massive Orchard now has a total area of 1,120 hectares of fruit trees. The main fruits are lichee, longan, star fruit and guava, etc.. The overall yield in 2007 was 22,600 tons of fruits.

　　The massive Orchard Protection Area has become a major green segregating strip and an urban wetland in the central cluster of the city of Guangzhou, and is often referred to as Guangzhou's "Southern Lung" or "Kidney". Yingzhou Ecological Park and Longtan Orchard Park, both typical Lingnan style gardens, have been built within the protection area.
